Google has introduced Veo 3, its latest artificial intelligence-powered video generation tool, at its I/O 2025 developer conference. The product enables users to create high-quality videos with synchronized audio from text or image prompts.

Audio Integration and Technical Features

Veo 3, developed by Google DeepMind, generates high-quality videos with native audio—including dialogue, sound effects, and background noise—marking a significant upgrade from Veo 2, which produced only silent video. Users input text or image prompts via the Gemini app or Vertex AI interface, and Veo 3 creates synchronized video and audio using DeepMind’s latest algorithms for motion, lip-sync, and scene realism. The Flow platform supports advanced editing, camera angle adjustments, and music integration with Google’s Lyria model.

Availability and Pricing

The company is launching Veo 3 in the United States for subscribers to the Google AI Pro plan and Google AI Ultra plan, and for enterprise users through Vertex AI. A timeline for global rollout has not been disclosed.

Access in Australia and Hong Kong

In Australia, users with a free Google account can access Veo 2. To try Veo 3, users need to subscribe to the Google AI Pro plan, which costs AU$32.99 per month but offers a free first month. This plan is also free for eligible Australian students. As of now, Veo 3 is not available in Hong Kong.

Integration with Workspace and Flow

Veo 3 integrates with Google Workspace applications including Slides, Docs, and Vids. It is also a core component of Flow, Google’s new AI filmmaking platform that combines Veo, Imagen, and Gemini for scene creation, editing, and advanced storytelling.

Ethical Safeguards and Security

All videos generated by Veo 3 are watermarked using Google’s SynthID technology. The company says this invisible marker is designed to help identify AI-generated content, addressing concerns over deepfakes and synthetic media.

Target Users and Industry Applications

Google is marketing Veo 3 to filmmakers, businesses, developers, and content creators. The company has partnered with production studio Primordial Soup, led by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, to create AI-assisted short films highlighting Veo 3’s capabilities.

Market Context and Competitive Position

Veo 3’s debut comes amid growing competition in generative video. OpenAI’s Sora, which lacks native audio features, is among the main rivals. The Gemini AI Ultra plan includes Veo 3, Gemini 2.5 Pro’s Deep Think mode, and 30TB of cloud storage.
