At the core of LYT’s platform is its ability to integrate AI with real-time vehicle tracking. By connecting to GPS devices on emergency vehicles, the system identifies their location and predicts their routes based on historical travel patterns. It then sends requests to internet-connected traffic signals to turn lights green, creating a clear path for responders. This AI-driven approach eliminates the need for additional hardware at intersections, making it a cost-effective solution for cities.
The platform’s route prediction tool is a key feature, analyzing data to guide vehicles along the fastest paths to their destinations. For example, if a fire truck is heading to an accident, the system can anticipate its route and adjust signals at upcoming intersections in real time. This seamless coordination reduces delays caused by red lights, ensuring responders arrive as quickly as possible.

The results of LYT’s technology are significant. The company reports a 69% improvement in how fast emergency vehicles can reach crash sites on average. In Fremont, California, the fire department saw its cross-city travel time drop from 46 minutes to just 14 minutes, according to LYT’s vice president of sales, Laramie Bowron, and confirmed by the Fremont Fire Department. This reduction means faster medical attention for victims and less strain on emergency services, which can cover larger areas without needing additional stations.
The Fremont Fire Department noted that the time saved varies depending on traffic conditions and the time of day, but tests consistently show improved response times. This efficiency can make a critical difference in life-or-death situations, such as heart attacks or severe accidents, where every second counts.

Beyond Emergencies: Broader Applications
While emergency response is the primary focus, LYT’s AI technology has other practical uses. During major events like Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, the system helped manage heavy traffic around concert venues, easing congestion for attendees and nearby residents. By prioritizing certain routes, the platform kept traffic flowing smoothly despite large crowds.
LYT is also exploring applications for winter weather challenges. Its LYT.snow pilot program aims to assist snow plow drivers by clearing intersections, allowing them to work more efficiently. Currently being tested on a 70-mile toll road and in select cities, this initiative could reduce road-clearing times and lower costs for municipalities facing harsh winters.

Its hardware-free design makes it easier to implement than traditional traffic management systems, which often require costly infrastructure upgrades.
